What will my child experience while at camp?

Covenant Park offers a unique camp experience in that our schedule and environment tends to be relationally based, rather than activity based. Don't get us wrong we still have tons of fun and provide many activities, your child will enjoy worship, camp songs, chapel speaker, skits, large group games, climbing wall and zipline, swimming beach, crafts, campfire, night games...But, at the heart of the Covenant Park experience is an environment geared toward fostering relationships, whether that is meeting new friends, deepening existing friendships, connecting with a counselor or staff, and most importantly meeting Jesus either for the first time or in a deeper way. Covenant Park is a place to belong and be known and loved. Our smaller capacity allows us to not only build relationships in small groups but throughout the larger groups as well. Our activities simply serve as a vehicle for "friend meeting friend and both meeting God", and creating amazing memories and lasting friendships together.

How many kids are in each cabin? How many kids are at each camp week?

Cabins consist of 8-12 campers and 2 staff. Camp weeks range from 50-100 campers. Adventure camps are 8-12 campers.

Will my child be in the same cabin as his/her friends?

We will make sure that at least 1 cabin mate request is granted for each camper. We do our best to honor both cabin mate requests if at all possible. Due to the space limitations of cabins, we usually cannot accommodate large group requests for cabin mates.

How does spending money work?

Campers are able to use spending cash on their electronic wallet which can be loaded at anytime leading up to or during their time at camp through their registration. You can also check how much they have mid week and add more if you wish. This money can be used to buy canteen or items in the store, go tubing, make tie dye, or donate to missions. Any money left on the electronic wallet at the end of the camp will be returned to the card or bank account on file or can be selected to donate to missions. The canteen is open for campers at least once daily. Here are some prices to help you plan for your budgeting: Pop, Candy, snacks, juice and ice cream-ranging from $.25-$4.50. Clothing and camp merchandise ranging from $1.00-$50.00.

Does CPBC offer Financial Aid or Scholarships?

Covenant Park does have financial aid available. This opportunity is made possible through individual and congregational support. Many churches are donating an amount toward the camp fee, so please check with your church as to the exact amount. If you are in need of further assistance, scholarship applications are available through the form within the camper registration form-Click Here to Register.Scholarships may be full or partial amount of the camper registration fee. Scholarship applications will be considered and awarded on an as-need basis. We ask that you also include the 20% deposit fee for holding your child's place in camp registrations if possible. Scholarships do not include t-shirts or canteen/camp store spending cash.

What happens to Lost and Found?

All items not claimed at the end of the summer (September) will be donated to charity.

Can I contact my camper while he/she is at camp?

Mail Call is a huge part of camp! You may drop mail off at the registration desk on the first day of camp, mail items directly to CPBC with your campers name, or use email in the BUNK 1 app. More information on BUNK 1 is provided in your registration confirmation email. Please note that letters arriving after a camper leaves will be returned to sender. Packages may be picked up at camp or forwarded to the camper for cost of shipping.

You may also call the camp office to speak directly with your camper (218-389-6398). At camp we focus on unplugging, so we do not allow campers to have cell phones or other electronics at camp. Campers that bring these items will be asked to turn them in upon arrival. If these items are found during the week, they will require a $25 donation to missions to get them back at the end of the camp week.

What happens if my camper gets homesick? 

We do our best to get campers interested in something they enjoy, let them rest if they seem tired, help them connect with other campers, or provide extra support and comfort when needed. In some cases the camper will continue to struggle with homesickness. If this persists, one of our staff members will notify the parent/guardian and ask for how they would like us to proceed-things we can do that might help, arranging a time where the      parent can talk with their camper, or if the parent deems best arranging for the child to be picked up. Campers that leave early are always welcome to return later in the week if they wish to.

What is camp's cell phone policy? 

At camp we focus on unplugging, so we do not allow campers to have cell phones or other electronics at camp. Campers that bring these items will be asked to turn them in upon arrival. If these items are found during the week, they will require a $25 donation to missions to get them back at the end of the camp week.

Can my camper (16 or older) drive themselves to camp?

Yes, we ask them to lock their vehicle and turn their keys in upon arrival. Campers who drive themselves will be released to themselves at check out. If your camper is leaving early, please note that they have your permission to do so on their registration in the pickup authorization section. You can also email the camp office with a note of permission. Campers 18+ do not need parental permission to leave early.

Is CPBC associated with a denomination or set of beliefs?

Covenant Park is a ministry of the Evangelical Covenant Church. Visit the about us page for more on our foundational beliefs. These form the guide for our operational practices and teaching.

Do we need to attend a covenant church to attend CPBC?

No, CPBC is open to any camper.

What kind of training do the staff have?

-Our climbing staff are trained and certified according to ACCT (national industry) standards.  A rigorous training and skills test is provided by a third party trainer.

-Lifeguards are Red Cross certified by a third party trainer.

-A portion of our staff are CPR/First Aid/AED certified.

-All staff working with campers go through Ministry Safe Abuse Awareness Training facilitated by a licensed counselor.

-Staff are trained in areas of leadership, working with campers, leading Bible studies, risk management and other practical topics related to their role.

What safety precautions are in place?

-During all youth camps a certified Medical Professional (Ex: EMT, RN, PA, MD) is onsite 24/7. A First aid station, including an AED and isolation rest area, is connected to the office right in the center of camp.

-All water sports are supervised by a minimum of 2 staff, including at least 1 certified lifeguard.

-Lifejackets are required in all boats and may be used for swimming if needed as well. Camp's swim area is very shallow (6ft at the deepest), so no diving is allowed.

-Campers are required to swim or boat with 1-2 buddies at all times.

-Each cabin has 1 staff counselor and 1 volunteer junior counselor.

Does camp provide transportation to camp?

CPBC does not provide transportation to camp.

What information is provided to my child's counselor about my child?

Important information provided to your child's counselor prior to their arrival will include (must be provided on their registration): First time or returning camper, if they came with cabin mates, allergies, activity restrictions, health concerns, if they will be taking medications while at camp and when, any other special instructions noted on the registration form by the parent/guardian.

What if my child has food allergies?

We are here to provide your camper with a safe and enjoyable time at camp. Please note the severity of allergies and any special instructions on your camper's health form in the designated area. Special dietary meals are prepared in the same kitchen as all other food. Dietary meals will be comparable to what is being served at that meal. When going through the food line, your camper's counselor can help the kitchen staff identify them          to receive a special meal. If you have concerns or questions about your child's care during their time at camp, feel free to reach out to our camp office.

What if my child has medications or health concerns? 

We are here to provide your camper with a safe and enjoyable time at camp. Please note any medications or health concerns along with special instructions for care on your camper's health form in the designated area. The medical professional and your child's counselor will work closely to see that your camper gets the care they need. Please note that medications must be brought in original bottles with label and correct dosage. Medication instructions on the camper's health form must be up to date with all medications they will be bringing to camp, time to take the medication and correct dosage for each. All medications (including over the counter), vitamins and supplements must be turned into the nurse upon arrival. Camper's will visit the medical professional onsite to receive medication. Counselors will help insure that campers see the medical professional at the proper time. All medications will be kept in a locked cabinet.

Campers love to get something from home during their camp week! Did you know that if a camper receives 3 letters in the same day or a package they get to sing a song, tell a joke, or do a Tarzan yell for the group?!

CPBC is on Bunk1 for a secure and convenient way to stay in touch with your camper and their camp experience. Viewing photos and receiving updates is FREE, plus you can share photos all you want with friends and family. You can also upgrade your package to include bunk notes to send to your child and templates for them to send notes home.. You can also purchase high quality prints or downloads and fun photo merchandise.

To create an account download the Bunk1 app or go to bunk1.com. The access code is included in the parent letter you will receive once you register for camp. Feel free to contact us if you need the code resent to you. You will also need the picture access code for your camper's week. This is sent in an app notification early in the week. Please make sure your notifications are turned on and that you have selected the camp week your camper is attending under their profile in Bunk1 to receive this code.

Bunk notes are delivered during mail call each day. Please send by 1pm for same day delivery, no mail call on Sunday of TB, JH and SH camps and bunk notes do not arrive in time for mail call if sent on the last day of camp. Bunk replies are sent by 4pm each day except the first day of camp and the last day of each camp. Please note that every effort is made to have campers write and return Bunk replies when they are provided. However, at times campers may choose to not use bunk replies even when encouraged to do so.

YOU MUST BRING MEDICATIONS IN ORIGINAL CONTAINERS WITH PROPER DOSAGE ON THE LABEL. ALL PRESCRIPTION AND OVER THE COUNTER MEDICATIONS, VITAMINS, AND SUPPLEMENTS MUST BE TURNED INTO THE NURSE UPON ARRIVAL. Electronics - Leave your laptops, cameras, ipads, MP3 Players, cell phones etc. at home! If they are found at camp, they will be kept in the office until the rally and a $25 donation to missions will be required to get them back. Expensive clothes, jewelry or watches, pets, alcohol, or tobacco including vape, weapons (including pocket knives) and fireworks should be left at home.
